Esmeralda & Jason's Wedding

DIY!

Picture
One of the first things I did myself was my veil. I wanted a veil with burgundy color trim. I decided I would try to make it myself and if I messed up I could still buy one from the store and only be out $10 in materials.

What I used:
A yard of tulle
A spool of 1/2 inch ribbon
Liquid Stitch
Decorative hair comb from Sam Moon
Thread

I purchased a clearance wedding veil from Wal-Mart to have a guideline to get the correct veil shape. I cut the tulle to about the same shape only about 2 inches longer. I used a needle with some thread and gathered the non-rounded side. I think I glued the tulle to the hair comb. (I can't be sure at what I did to attach the comb to the tulle and can't tell by looking at it.)
To add the ribbon, I rubbed the matte side with Liquid Stitch and folded the ribbon onto the edge of the tulle. It was a pretty long process getting the ribbon on there but I think the effect is nice.

Pomanders

As soon as I saw tissue pomander directions I knew I had to do it. I got my tissue paper from Nashvillewraps.com The directions I used were from another Knottie. I did modify the paper cutting directions. I cut the paper into 5in.x6.5in. rectangles. I end up cutting the 5 inches down to about 4in.-4.5in.

Centerpiece

I didn't know if I was going to be able to hang my pomanders in the room where I am having my reception. I decided to put it on a vase and then I am gonna put rocks or beads in the vase. I am still playing around with how it will look.

I also created the lantern beside it. I bought some printed cardstock and used an Xacto knife to cut out each number. I plan on putting a tealight on the inside so that the number is visible from across the room.

Brooch Bouquet

I also wanted a brooch bouquet. It was just a neat idea and I wanted to incorporate it into my wedding. I had a couple of items but I ended up looking for most of the pieces on my bouquet. I looked at a lot of thrift stores for brooches that weren't so expensive that the bouquet would cost more than a real flower one. I was saved by going to Miz Accessory Outlet in Irving. They have jewelery for 6 for $5 or $1 a piece. I bought a bunch of clip on earrings with a couple of brooches mixed in. I also went to Sam Moon in Dallas to grab a couple of pieces.

To make the bouquet I took the easy way out: I used styrofoam. I wanted to make individual stems for each one but was never able to make it work. I used floral wire and wrapped the base of  every brooch/earring in a way that would make it easy to stick it in the styrofoam.
